Classic Boats 2016 – A great success !

Hello fellow (enthusiastic) boaties,

I’m sure you’ll agree this years event was bigger and better than last year with 46 boats attending.

The free lunch on Saturday on the beach at Toorbul was a real boost, served by the new Bribie Social Boating Club members and was provided by funds from the Mayor of the Moreton Bay Regional Council and with much help by Bribie Island Sailing club members.
With lovely Sunny weather throughout the weekend , the sailors did well in the light winds in the morning and Saturday afternoon’s higher wind was challenging for some berthing for a free night at Pacific Harbour marina. For those returning to the Spinnaker Sound ramp it was an exciting ride from Toorbul.
Thanks again to the Bribie Vietnam Vets – there was a cooked breakfast both mornings and a great afternoon tea at Pacific Harbour on Saturday afternoon.
The Bribie Island Hotel rose well to the occasion Saturday night with good food and there were some generous trophies presented courtesy of Nautilus Marine Insurance, who also paid for the 2016 Plaques.
Sunday saw a perfect day again with the canal cruise followed by the usual meeting with the public at Sylvan Beach. The public turned out in greater numbers to watch this year with publicity enhanced by help from the Bribie Weekly and 101.5fm.
Great atmospheric music was provided by the Mullet Gut Bluegrass Band with the Vietnam Vets again serving lunch to the crowds on Sunday
All in all, a great time!
A video available soon and information on next years event. Thanks for your interest and participation in 2016 – next year shapes to be bigger and better. Spread the word!
Cheers,
Dr Doug
